Our beloved Tyke, who was rescued as a stray kitten from Ohio in Dec 2018, birth date unknown, was about 7 years old before crossing the rainbow bridge on 7/6/2025 at 10:43 p.m. and is no longer in discomfort from a struggle with kidney failure. Tyke drove with his devoted human mom from Ohio on her lap after visiting with a friend for a weekend who had found some kittens thrown on the side of the road. It was then that Tyke made his way home to his forever family in Auburn, NY. Tyke had a unique personality. He enjoyed eating chips and popcorn, and the minute he heard that bag, he was there swatting your hand for that chip in your hand.
Tyke was playful and loved his neck rubbed, especially if you had fake nails, but was not afraid to let you know when it was time to be left alone. He loved his devoted human, Ella, who he slept with every night, and if she was not home, he was in her bed sleeping. Ella was the only one who could bother Tyke, and yet he still was never far from her wherever she was. He greeted us at the door like a dog, and if he heard a car door, he perked up and waited by the door with his tail wagging uncontrollably, especially when he was happy. He spent way too much time around his canine companion, sister, Kylee, with whom he instantly bonded the day he came home. She allowed Tyke to bite on her and pat her. Their love was unconditional. When Tyke was mad, the tip of his tail would move like a rattlesnake while his tail whipped fast. He loved his feline companion, best friend, Sophie, who was rescued locally from a barn a couple of years later; they completed each other. He enjoyed attacking her by surprise out of nowhere. She helped mellow him out.
Tyke enjoyed sunbathing, napping, stealing food, chasing his butterfly on the spin toy, and catching flies that got inside and playing with his chasers. He was only a cuddler when it came to his devoted human, Ella, and routinely every night slept with her in her bed. He loved to sit in anything he could fit in or on, including a paper plate if preparing meals. Tyke was mischievous, always knocking things off shelves or counters, breaking many of Mom’s favorite cups as well as leaving many water spills on the floor. He loved to watch you cook in the kitchen by being up on top of the cabinets, hood range, or jump up in the middle of prepping dinner when he knew your hands were dirty. He knew no boundaries. Tyke was our snack buddy who never missed a late-night snack with Mom after Ella went to bed. He enjoyed drinking out of the sink and sitting with Mom in the bathroom while in the shower, waiting for her to be done so he could drink the puddles off the tub floor.
You will be missed greatly. Tyke leaves behind his human companions: Mom Amanda, sister Ella, Grandma Mary, and many other family friends who loved him and helped take care of him when his family went on vacation, as well as Tyke leaves behind his canine companion Kylee and feline companion Sophie girl. Your family loves you, and we all hope you’re running and playing and no longer suffering. Until we meet again, my handsome man. We love you to infinity and beyond. He was such a handsome man. He was my handsome man. I'm going to miss him so much
