6/23/21 - 12/27/23
Remington (Remi) was the glue holding together our already broken hearts.
On 10/27/19 we lost our Odin unexpectedly, & then almost a year to the day, on 10/31/20 we lost our Thor, also unexpectedly. It was one unbearable loss after another. But Remi brought instant joy & happiness into our lives. He was our sunshine, the light that lifted us from the darkness.
Remi was a little dog, who did everything in a big way. There was never a dull moment, as he was always moving, jumping, playing & singing. He had a smile that lasted forever & plenty of non-stop kisses to give. He was our shadow, a constant companion who sat outside the tub while his Mama showered or tried to jump on your lap while you used the toilet. Persistent in his desire to be with us we found ourselves stepping on him by accident, which brought about the addition of the bell onto his collar. The tinkle of the bell made a dingle dangle sound and hence forth he became Mr. Dingles.
Remington contrary to popular belief was not named after a gun; he with his perfect blue eyes was named after Remington Steele (a handsome tv detective circa 1982). But often I’d call him “my perfect little gentleman”. He was still called The Baby and often came when called to Beans. At night he’d like to be rolled up into the comforter on our bed, and I’d call him my lil bean burrito. Some called him Monkey or Mon-Ki-Ki as he could be quite mischievous & cheeky. A little dog with a big heart and an even bigger impact, touching so many lives and bringing happiness wherever he went.
Remi loved to tear the squeakers out of toys, and to shred empty toilet paper tubes. He loved to lay at night with his Papa on the sofa, being lifted and flipped onto his back with the phrase KABOOM. At night if you asked Remi if he wanted to KABOOM he’d run to the sofa. Remi loved to swim in the pool. He hated car rides, but not the destination once arrived. His favorite place to visit was his great grandparents house where there was always the fancy cheese & he could hang out with his cousin Freshy Face the chinchilla.
Active & happy, we were shocked to awake to a sick Remi on 12/24/23. Swiftly diagnosed with an auto immune condition called IMHA he was rushed to Cornell for treatment. Remi fought the best he could but passed on 12/27/23. A bright light died that day. Our hearts will be forever broken as there is no replacing perfection.
We would like to thank Dr. Ospina & the Urgent Veterinary Care staff of Auburn for their timely, accurate and compassionate care during our state of emergency. We would also like to thank the doctors & students at Cornell University Animal Hospital for the care they provided to our Remington at the end.
