On Friday May 16th, our beloved "Newf", Jessie, crossed the rainbow bridge to run free with her family who have passed before her including her brother Brian and fur brothers and sisters, Maya, Riley, Oliver, and Maggie. Jessie passed quietly and peacefully at home on her cozy bed in her favorite spot on the patio in the sunlight with her "parents" by her side. Jessie is survived by her parents, Julie and Nate Vitale, human brothers and sister, Alexandra, Matteo, and Noah Vitale and her fur siblings Millie, Finnegan, and Franklin.
Jessie joined our family as a "giant" puppy. Despite her rough (really rough) beginnings of being a stubborn, feisty puppy, she became the "bestest" girl ever after successfully completing doggie boot camp at Sit Means Sit in Syracuse,
Up until about 2 years ago, when arthritis started to take a serious hold of her, Jessie was very active and loved to go for car rides, walks, and lay on top of her family members on the couch as if she were a lap dog. She gave the best nose nudges and big slobbery kisses. She was an expert at opening doors and gates and letting herself out when she wasn't supposed to. Jessie had a love for peanut butter treats, but only the ones from Trader Joe's, as she was a bit of a snack snob.
We thank you, Jessie girl (our baby and smushy, mushy big love) for your 12 1/2 years of unconditional love, antics and companionship. You were so loyal to the very end and brought us comfort during the hard times and joy during the best ones. You were so much than just a "pet" to us. You were the BEST giant baby girl.
Although you have left a huge paw print shaped hole in each of our hearts, we are so thankful for the many years of love and joy you brought to our home. You will forever be loved and missed. You can run free now, big girl. We will see you on the other side.
