Jake Quigley Obituary

Jake was born February 10, 2007.  He was a Sheltie/Jack Russell mix.  From the moment he came to our home, he was full of energy.  As a puppy, he always enjoyed playing with his toys and with his best buddy Ryan.  Jake and Ryan would venture out through the neighborhood to go exploring and both coming home as dirty as the other.  When the neighborhood kids would come over to swim, Jake’s herding instincts would kick in and he would do laps around the pool keeping track of everyone.  Finally resting after everyone was out.  He also loved the winter, running through and eating the fresh fallen snow.

Jake enjoyed being outdoors, going hiking with the family, going on walks to Hoopes Park and at times walking the neighborhood on his own to visit the neighbors, who loved him and always made sure he found his way home.  If one of the family members was out of the house, he would lay on top of the couch and look out the window waiting for everyone to come home.  Jake would perform nightly perimeter checks around the fence prior to turning in for the night.

Besides his love for his family, Jake loved food.   He loved his treats and people food, especially chicken, steak, frosted mini wheats and popcorn.  He was exceptionally smart and learned many tricks very quickly (roll over, shake, speak, sit and lay down), sometimes doing all of tricks at once before he was asked to, to make certain he would get a treat.  He loved people and was always excited to be with his family, especially at the holidays.

Jake lived a full life, even as his age began to slow him down and limit some of his activities.  He was our faithful friend, loyal companion, and loving bubba. He filled our lives with so much love, laughter, and joy.

Jake spent his last hours with his owners, who laid with him and kept him comfortable.  He was loved deeply by Kathy, Chris, Ryan, Taylor and Patrick.  Jake passed away on August 10, 2021, at 14 ½ years old, with his family by his side.  He will forever be remembered for his playful, energetic, loving personality and the entire family will miss his unconditional love.

We will never forget you Jake and are blessed to have so many wonderful memories to look back on and smile. Rest in peace Jakey Jake!! You are forever irreplaceable!! Until we meet again at the Rainbow Bridge…
