Izzy Roberts Chapman

Born: May 16, 2006, to October 15, 2021

On October 15, 2021, Izzy Roberts Chapman lost her battle with diabetes, kidney failure, and cancer.

Izzy, a Shi-tzu Maltese, was born in May of 2006 and lived the first 9 years of her life with the Roberts Family in Port Byron, NY. She lived there with her Toy Poodle brother Ozzy, her parents Mike and Suzanne, their 4 children, and several cats over the years. Izzy spent most of her days there trying to eat all of Ozzy’s food and eating her own poop any chance she could. Poop eating was a staple throughout her life.

In the summer of 2015, Izzy moved to live with the Roberts' eldest daughter Pamela Chapman, her husband James, as well as their newly adopted Cocker Spaniel Sonny Christopher in Oxford, NY.

During her time in her new household, Izzy eventually went partially blind due to having diabetes. Despite being blind, Izzy learned how to play fetch and enjoyed going for walks with her adopted brother Sonny. Eventually, Izzy went fully blind, but this did not stop her from playing fetch with her toys “Dave” and “Elliot.” Izzy developed the ability to tell her toys, brontosaurus “Dave” and dragon “Elliot” apart when she played fetch.

One of her main joys in life was eating. Izzy ensured that her dinner would be ready each night by 6:00pm by standing in the kitchen and barking periodically an hour to hour and a half before dinner daily. Her favorite foods included chicken, dog food that wasn’t hers, bananas, pumpkin baby food. And of course, her favorite thing of all to eat was……... Poop.

Her favorite activities included eating, snuggling on the couch, going for family walks in her doggy pack on warm sunny days, (so she could nap), laying in the sun and of course hunting for poop to eat in the yard.

Izzy is predeceased by her brothers Ozzy (July 2021) and Sonny (June 2021) and leaves behind a family of 4, her parents Pamela and James Chapman, her sister Ripley a 2-year-old Terrier Mix, and her new brother Schroeder a 5-month-old Cocker Spaniel who she helped transition to his new home by sleeping with him in his crate at nighttime.

Dear Izzy,

Thank you for making the hard choice of leaving this Earth for us. We are relieved that your long battle with your health problems is finally over. I am sure Sonny was at the Rainbow Bridge waiting for your arrival since he knew when he passed in June 2021 that you would be joining him shortly. Now that you can see, we hope that you get around better and can see all the beautiful things you have missed out on the past several years. Make sure you share Dave and Elliot with Sonny when playing, and we hope you find lots of delicious things that will fill your tummy. We love and miss you! Please give Sonny a kiss for us and let him know how much we miss him too !- Love Mom and Dad
