Holly joined our family as an early Christmas present. She was so tiny, she could fit in
the palms of our hands and could run under all the furniture. She loved to play and run all over!
As she grew, she realized how high she could jump! Sometimes, stealing a snack off the counter
or trying to look out the window on the front door. She even locked her Mommy and Daddy
outside once doing just that!
Fetch was her favorite game, even up until her final weeks. Once she got you to throw the
toy, you were hers for hours. She never got tired. She enjoyed spending the fall and winter days
curled up under her blankets on the couch, or snuggled up to her family, she hated being cold.
She was a cuddle bug. She also liked to curl up on the back of the couch, to catch some sun or
watch out the window, we think she thought she was a cat-dog. She enjoyed spending her
summer days either swimming or floating in the pool or sunbathing on the deck.
Holly loved her Mommy and Daddy. Her Mommy could pick her up and say “I love you,
Holly! Do you love your Mommy?” Holly would lean against her shoulder tuck her head under
her mommy’s chin, as if to say “Yes, I do!” She loved her Daddy too, so much she had to kiss
him goodnight every night before she fell asleep. She loved her human brother to no end. She let
him do just about anything, a true definition of trust. She also loved her younger, but larger fur
sisters Gracie and Maggie. She would take turns curling up next to each of them for some extra
snuggles. That is if she wasn’t bossing them around. She knew how to get them to do what she
wanted. Even if it meant picking up a toy to manipulate them to move out of her spot.
She was small, but she was mighty! She ruled the house and let everyone know it too. A
neighbor couldn’t pull in next door; someone couldn’t walk past the house; and a delivery
couldn’t go unnoticed. You didn’t have to knock on our doors, Holly knew you were here the
second you pulled in the driveway.
She was an amazing fur-baby. So smart and so full of love to give. She was always happy
to see us. She loved her meatballs for her birthday treat. She would “dance” (on her hind legs in
circles) for her treats. She loved sleeping in bed with Mommy and Daddy, right in the middle
between them, under the covers. She was a great comforter when anyone was sick or just not
feeling themselves. She loved going on car rides, the destination didn’t matter to her. Her final
minutes were spent in her mommy’s arms on her last ride.
For as small as she was, the impact of her passing is huge for our family. We will never
be the same without her. We know that Nonny and PaPa were there to greet their “Hilda” at the
gates. We know that she is at peace, pain free and frolicking among the fields of Heaven and able
to play endless games of fetch! For us, that brings comfort. We will cherish our memories with
her.
Holly leaves behind her Daddy and Mommy, Bruce and Kristen, her human brother
Hayden, her fur sisters Gracie and Maggie and many more family and friends. She was
predeceased by her fur kitty sister, Missy-Miss-Fit.
Holly babes, you loved us for your whole life. We will miss you for the rest of ours. See
you on the other side baby girl. Until we meet again.
