Fenton Burger

Fourteen years ago you came to us as a stranger. A cute little black and white kitty who would visit and then leave. We didn’t know where you lived or if you had a name. But, you were always friendly and hungry. So, we would feed you and called you Fenton – a name my mother made up for a neighborhood kid that seemed to be always around and wanting food.

Then for some reason you didn’t come around for the longest time and we worried what had happened to you – a year went by. Then one morning as we sat at the breakfast table you appeared as you always did - staring at us through our kitchen window. We couldn’t believe it was you, it’d been so long. I opened the door and in you came never to leave again. Where have you been? I guess we’ll never know. But, we were so happy to see you and knew you were meant to be here with us.

You were always the first one up in the morning and at our bedside to get us up – “it’s time to eat!.” You were such a little piglet – if your sisters were quick enough you ate theirs too. You loved sleeping with us at night and were always so friendly and nice.

Now you’ve left again, this time forever. It hurts and we cry. We loved you so much and will miss you everyday. You’ll always be a part of our everyday thoughts. And, God willing we will meet again and we’ll be happy to have you back. We love you Fenton and will miss you everyday.
